We are so excited to be taking part in this year’s Children’s Festival. The Ottawa International Children’s Festival is an annual celebration of the best in live performing arts for young people. For over two decades the OICF has presented an abundance of award-winning artists from around the globe and made wide-eyed children out of attendees of all ages. The OICF provides a unique opportunity for children and their families to experience the rich heritage of other cultures right in their own backyard. They strive to present work that excites and challenges audiences of all ages, and the festival prides itself on developing and producing award winning programming that comes to us from across Canada and around the world. Barefoot Books will be participating in this year’s festival and we do hope to see you and your family there. Stop by the “family games pavilion” to see some of the wonderful new titles and products we currently have in stock. For more information visit their website: www.ottawachildrensfestival.ca

48 trees planted!

We had a great time at the Eco-Fair this Saturday and would like to thank everyone that came out to see us. We are happy to announce that 48 trees will be planted as a result of this year’s Eco-Fair; so that makes a total of 80 trees planted so far (Eco-Fair 2010 & 2011). As I had mentioned we partnered with Eco-Libris for this event to make this possible. Check out their website for more information and to learn how you can help;  http://www.ecolibris.net

We are getting ready for the Eco-Fair this Saturday and have just received so many great titles to share with you. Make sure you check out our sing-a-longs; Over in the Meadow and the Whole World, both with educational end notes.

Also not to be missed are  We’re Roaming in the Rainforest, Home for a Tiger- Home for a Bear, A Forest of Stories, Yoga Planet and of course the Barefoot Book of Earth Tales; a beautiful collection of 7 folktales from around the world that focuses on how different cultures try to live in harmony with nature. Each tale is then followed by a fun “green” activity.

We strive to bring both environmental and global awareness to children and families through our products and are happy to announce that just as we did last year for this event we have arranged to have a tree planted for each book sold. We hope to see you and your family there.
